About Me

Thanks for stopping by!

I’m Joanna. I started this blog in June 2011 as a way to document the transition from graduate school to “the real world”. I love the arts and have an undergrad degree in music. Singing and traveling are my biggest passions, but I also love trying out new recipes and foods, reading, and volunteering for causes I believe in. My friends are some of the most important people in my life, and I am always looking to meet interesting, passionate, thoughtful people. If this is you, I hope you’ll stick around 🙂 I also just joined Weight Watchers, and I’m enjoying discovering new ways to be healthier and more comfortable in my own skin as I follow the plan.

Since I love lists, here’s a few more random things about me:

I love even numbers, especially 8 and 4
I’m from the South, and I still say y’all regularly
I love going to the horse race track because  of my Dad
I make some of the best guacamole you’ll ever eat
I’m Type A
I’m an ISFP
I’ve sung on stage at both Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center
I’m passionate about ending bullying
I love games of all kinds, especially board games
I love ethnic foods, especially Thai and Indian
I hate (raw) mushrooms, olives, and sauerkraut
I spent a year living in England

It’s been a bumpy road to get here, and I am looking forward to becoming braver, stronger, and more of myself each day. I’m excited to share my brave.real.world with you.
